JEMfriends, a local nonprofit supporting youth aging out of Foster Care, held its annual gala Sept. 20 at JUMP. Beautiful Savior was an event sponsor, and eight members attended the night of fundraising and celebration.
This year’s gala was record-setting. 225 attended including the most first-time attendees. The event also raised a record $146,640 for the nonprofit.
JEMfriends youth were highlighted that night, with one receiving a Golden Independence award and six others were awarded Star Stepping Stones awards for reaching new milestones in their journey toward living independently.
JEMfriends sent thanks to BSLC and all who sponsored or attended the event: “Thank you for sharing your time with us and investing in our organization.”
Three BSLC members serve on the JEMfriends Board of Directors and BSLC sends LRG (Local Regional Global) funds to the group each year to support their important work of supporting and empowering young adults toward independent living.
Stay tuned about a special presentation at BSLC from the non-profit sometime in the coming months. On HOP Day, Nov. 2, volunteers will shop to fill Christmas lists
for JEMfriends participants.
