Beautiful Savior had a large yard sale on Saturday, June 10th, with all proceeds benefiting Beginning Years Child Care Center and the Boise Rescue Mission. BSLC and Beginning Years had accumulated many items over the past 30 to 40 years that were no longer used. The excess daycare items filled an entire classroom rendering it unusable, and church storage rooms were getting so full that accessing the furnaces for needed maintenance was difficult.
Over the past several months, BSLC members and Beginning Years sorted through their storage areas and designated a large amount of items to sell at the yard sale including toys, games, books, baskets, home decorating items, fabric, furniture and much more. During the week of the yard sale, 25 volunteers contributed their time to sort and price items, set up for the sale, provide customer service during the sale, and to clean up afterward.
With rain leading up to sale day, we were blessed to have perfect yard sale weather on Saturday. The sale was well attended, and we were able to connect positively with neighbors and many other people in our community. Our friendly volunteers provided top notch service to our shoppers including help with carrying and loading items. Many customers said it was a very fun yard sale!
We had a table set up with Vacation Bible School information and were able to sign up some children during the sale, and give information to many additional interested families.
Clearing out unneeded items allowed Beginning Years to open a new classroom in the modular building and bring in more children to their program. They are also in the process of opening a much needed infant room, and yard sale proceeds were enough to cover the remaining supplies needed.
Our profit from the yard sale, for Beginning Years Child Care Center and the Boise Rescue Mission, was $1727.40.
Thank you to everyone who helped in this effort, it could not have happened without you!
